One of the things a hotel does not need is pests. Not only would this be damaging to the hotel’s reputation, but it could also run the entire business down. As a hotel owner it is your duty to ensure that your guests are not assaulted by any pests during their visit. So, what are some of the things that you could adhere to, to ensure you are practicing effective hotel pest control?
1. One of the most common pests that tend to turn up at hotels is bedbugs. Once these critters infest the hotel, it could prove to be quite difficult to get rid of them. Another disadvantage is that bedbugs can travel in luggage. Therefore, one of your guests could unassumingly bring the infestation to your hotel. Since you cannot check every single guest for bedbugs, you need to ensure that the rooms are thoroughly cleaned once a guest has left. This could also include fumigation just to be on the safe side, since once they start spreading you would have to call in exterminators for the entire hotel.
2. Another pest that you could come across in a hotel would be mice, or rats. This is largely due to the fact that guests tend to leave food almost anywhere. The first thing that you should ensure is that the kitchen is impeccably clean. In addition to this, have the employees take away any leftover food immediately, so that the mice are not attracted to it. Rat and mice will also travel through air vents to ensure that they gain entry into the hotel. One thing you could do for hotel pest control would be to cover vents with mesh. Ensure the holes of the mesh are extremely tiny as these rodents can squeeze through significantly small holes.
