One thing that everyone can concur on is that prevention is far much better than cure. This does not only apply to disease but also any other situation that may need you to take drastic measures to maintain the status quo. Homes tend to get a pest infestation at one point or another. To avoid having to live in misery, you would rather know how to avoid the infestation rather than deal with the pests once they have set up shop in your home. Here are the steps that you could follow to ensure that you prevent an infestation of bedbugs in your home.

  1. The first thing that you should do is carefully inspect all the areas in your house that tend to be warm or are usually in close proximity to human contact. These will include pillows, mattresses, sofa beds, chairs, and so on. This inspection is to check that you already do not have an infestation in your hands. Once the inspection is done, you can then proceed to treating all the furniture that is used on a regular basis. You can do this with a generic insecticide spray but if you would like to be more thorough, you should opt for insecticide dust.
  2. Once you have treated the pieces of furniture, you should tend to the mattresses in your home. Bedbugs tend to hide in them so you would be best advised to cover all of them in some plastic. This prevents any of these pests from getting into the mattress plus if there were any inside, they cannot get out and harm you.
  3. Lastly, ensure that all the cracks and crevices in the walls of our home have been sealed with some caulking material. Bedbugs tend to choose these places as hiding places thus if you eliminate the hiding places, they will have nowhere to seek haven.
